Risk Lead – Submarines

Full Time – Permanent

Derby – Hybrid

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk Lead to join Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby.  We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.

Working for the Risk Manager, the Risk Lead you’ll play a key role in supporting and influencing decision-making across the business. Working closely with the business, you will provide comprehensive risk and opportunity management support to the business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can build strong relationships, bring insight and challenge, and promote a culture of accountability and transparency across Submarines

Your needs are as unique as you are. What you will be doing?

  • Define and maintain risk management plans aligning with Group, sector and industry best practices
  • Manage the cycle of risk reviews, eliciting, interpreting and combining risk information across the business
  • Maintaining the business risk register
  • Producing supporting risk reports and metrics
  • Escalate risk information to the Business Risk Review as required
  • Act as a risk facilitator and mentor
  • Share subject matter expertise within the risk team to ensure delivery of an outstanding service to the business

  • Proven experience in governance, risk, assurance, or compliance roles.
  • Experience and knowledge of Project Management principles
  • Experience in risk, or other forms of facilitation
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders, Boards, and/or Committees
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • A degree level or equivalent in business, risk or project management, or 2-3 years equivalent business experience including APMQ qualifications is desirable in addition to experience with data analytics and management information reporting.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
